The Vietnam Era Twin Study of Aging (VETSA) is a large-scale investigation of cognitive aging from middle to later age. The intended sample of 1440 twin subjects is recruited from the Vietnam Era Twin Registry (VETR), a registry of middle-aged male-male twin pairs who both served in the military during the Vietnam conflict (1965-1975). LCN members are currently facilitating the collection of structural MRI scans necessary to identify structural brain correlates of the aging process. Additionally, LCN members are determining whether MR magnet strength has any effect on the reliability of these structural brain measures. (more info) (more info)

The Center for Neuroimaging of Aging and Neurodegenerative Disease examines morphometric changes in Huntington’s Disease and in Alzheimer’s Disease patients. Using longitiudinal acquisitions, PET markers, genetic sequencing, and an array of imaging modalities and analysis tools we are probing the effects of Huntington’s and Alzheimer’s Disease on the human brain. LCN members contribute in a variety of ways by writing computer command scripts, developing specialized tools, and performing MR imaging data analysis. (more info)

The Laboratory for NeuroImaging of Coma and Consciousness (lab info), led by  Brian Edlow, uses advanced structural and functional imaging techniques to identify brain networks critical to the restoration of consciousness, with the goal of providing more accurate prognoses and personalized treatments for patients with coma and other disorders of consciousness caused by traumatic brain injury.
